“Another freaking learning experience!” my friend, Sara, said, disappointed. “Why are life lessons so hard? I’m tired. I don’t want any more tough lessons,” she said.
During this conversation, a thought arose in my mind: Goddess wants us to be strong and happy.
“I am the Gracious Goddess, who gives the gift of joy unto the heart.” – Doreen Valiente, writing in the voice of the Goddess in The Charge of the Goddess
The Goddess is gracious, and she wants us to be happy. So, she gives us gifts. What gifts? Strength, joy, love, courage, happiness and more.
Perhaps, we don’t like the wrapping paper around the gifts, which are the life lessons. We must go through the wrapping paper to get to the gift.
The life lessons help us grow; and ultimately, they help us experience happy moments. I say moments because we notice that life is ever-flowing.
Perhaps, like me, you’d like to see the nugget of happiness in the gift. That can be hard when you’re feeling miserable in the moment—in the middle of a life lesson.
Here’s a helpful prayer.
Help me see the light in the darkness
To know that life lessons are the springboard to my happiness,
To know Your gifts of love and strength for me.
May I see that each rung on the ladder of lessons provides
The path to eventually give me peace, strength and above all true happiness.
So Mote It Be
May your life lessons bring you true happiness.
