With regards to the man’s father being labeled a “narcissist” I have this to say: I was brought up to be respectful of others which included not being nosy. I find that people will open up when they’re ready to. I personally don’t like being prodded with too many questions. If I want to open up, I will. My advice would be not to push.

M-,
I hear you.
Perhaps, it would have been useful for me to include details that the narcissist father physically abused the son and wife. He also verbally abused them for decades. At 87, the father attacked the wife, and the sheriff removed the father from the elder care facility.
M-, I agree that prodding is not appropriate.
And… I notice that often in a friendship, a friend wants to be seen and heard. So, one gentle and kind question may open up a conversation.
Blessed Be,

Wow. The abuse takes things to a whole different level. Very sad but I’m glad they are free of him.
Blessings to you and to your Readers.
