Happy Beltane to all! May you be blessed with the season’s energies.
Beltane
To our ancestors, Beltane celebrates the beginning of summer. Bale or “bon” fires are an important part of the Beltane Sabbat. All fires at home or in shops were extinguished and then re-lit from the sacred bonfires that blazed on the tops of the surrounding hills. This was also the time when the herds were blessed. The people marched their cattle around and between the bonfires to bring good luck and fertility and to protect them during the year.
The Sabbat Beltane, coincides with when the God actually impregnates the Goddess. This sacred act ensures the continued fertility for crops and animals throughout the light half of the year (between the Spring and Fall Equinoxes.) A popular symbol for this sacred act, the May Pole represents the impregnation of the goddess. A May Pole is a pole set erect in the ground with ribbons attached on the top. People then each take a ribbon and dance in a weaving pattern around the pole. The pole represents God’s phallus and the colorful ribbons that the dancers wind around the May Pole represent the goddess with her flowers a-blooming. And so the impregnation of the Goddess is fulfilled.
All I wanted to do was get out of the home and begin my metal detecting adventure. Meanwhile, my sweetheart was completing a function in the online course app he was using.
He asked that I cue up Chappell Roan’s performance of “Pink Pony Club” (at the 67th Grammy Awards) while he completed his task and got out of the online course app. (He creates online courses.)
Then, his eyes went wide.
“So, you want to skip watching Chappell Roan’s performance and get out to the wooded area—now?” he asked.
“Yeah.” (Wasn’t that obvious?)
Later, I reflected on savoring the moment.
1. Shift your schedule.
The plan was to watch a 4-minute video on YouTube. But my sweetheart correctly assessed that, in my frustration, my experience of the music and performance would be tainted.
So we turned off the TV set and left to travel to the wooded area.
2. Pause and assess if this is a moment to “savor.”
After I did some metal detecting and digging around, I was doing the routine of putting the tools away. Then, I paused. This was a moment to be present with the breeze, the swaying tree branches, and squirrels running around.
Here is a prayer you can use:
Goddess help me savor special moments in my life. May I wrap myself in the warm moments of the past, As I look forward to blessed future moments. So Mote It Be.

Every morning, I use a small table to do my ritual … unless the night before, some stuff was left on the small table. Then it’s like the table has radiation. And, I fail to do my ritual.
Researchers talk about “willpower fatigue.” The idea is that if there is a block of some sort, many of us just will not do our “chores.” We lose our willpower. That’s why so many people exercise in the morning and not after work … when they’re tired.
How about you? Do you make prayer, ritual, and meditation a priority?
I remember a professor who had a cylinder container. He asked the college students, “How much can fit in here?”
He put big rocks in first. Then, he asked his students, “Is the container full?” Then he poured gravel in. He asked again, “Is it full now?” Then sand. Finally, water.
The point I get from this is … we, witches, would do well to make prayer, ritual, and meditation the “big rocks.”
Remember that prayer, ritual, and meditation are the foundation of your spiritual practice.
Moonwater reveals how to make the shift so you can “Find Your Amazing.” You release yourself from boredom and living the same year 10 times. Encounter a powerful prayer to receive the Goddess’s support to bring the new and great into your life.
“I can’t believe what President Dumbdumb just did,” one of my friends said.
“I know. I can’t buy eggs, anymore,” my other friend Sarah said.
“And it looks like there is going to be legislation against certain spiritual paths,” my friend said.
I reflected on this.
During the Burning Times, what did our ancestors think about such awful circumstances?
I considered that we must do what we can and hold strong in faith.
Here is a prayer you can use.
Goddess, Help me endure like my ancestors did. No matter what stupidity or viciousness I and my brothers and sisters shall face. The Gods are with us! So Mote It Be

When was the last time you were angry? I mean, really angry.
Drivers that almost cause accidents. That’s a hot button for me.
Injury or death. For no reason—except the troublesome driver is unskillful or rude—or both.
So, I was simply driving. Then an idiot driver cut me off. Causing Danger. Now I’m tossed into a “hot state.”
A definition: “Hot states are characterized by high levels of emotion, where individuals are more likely to act impulsively and make decisions based on their immediate feelings rather than long-term consequences.”
Warning: Do not do magick when stuck in a hot state. You can make rash decisions that you normally wouldn’t make.
Here are hot state triggers: anger, hunger, fear, pain, sexual arousal, and strong cravings.
Here’s the Big, Important Idea: When you notice that you are triggered, stop. Cool down. Make a good decision to wait before you do any form of magick.
Also, remember the Threefold Law. If you do magick while you’re angry, you could cause damage … that could be slammed back at you with three times the intensity or more.
Here’s a chant you can use to cool down. You can replace “anger” with any other unhelpful emotion.
Anger, anger, flee from me! Clear my mind for me to see. Unhelpful emotions fade away, You don’t trouble me today. So Mote It Be.
