What is your favorite season?
My favorite season is Fall going into Winter. When I was small, I loved puddles. My parents would say “If there was a puddle anywhere within five miles of us, she would find it!”
I loved the wet season. And my little feet loved splashing around.
I enjoy the cool weather. Fallen leaves create a lovely carpet.
Over the years, I learned that my internal season may not line up with the external season.
Have you found yourself cold inside even on a hot summer day?
Your internal seasons can be completely different from the external seasons. You may know of someone who lost a loved one during the Summer. They experience an inner Winter as the grief settles in their heart.
I have three insights for you.
- Flow with the internal season you have.
Have you noticed that the more you resist, the more something persists? If you feel grief, make space for the tears. When we express tears, we can move forward. Even just a bit. It all helps.
My friend, Alicia, noticed that she awakens feeling pain and experiencing a low mood. But when she stays open … she later smiles with joy when talking with someone at work. She gets the spectrum of the human experience during her day.
- Prepare to shift from internal season to internal season.
Seasons ebb and seasons flow within us. The idea of shift is to avoid trying to force something. Taking a ritual bath can help you shift. It will help you cleanse yourself of the old energies. I find that lighting some incense helps me make a shift, too.
- Invite Goddess to Open Your Possibilities.
Years ago, I heard a friend say that she told her therapist that she didn’t want to cry. She said, “Once I start crying, I don’t think I’ll be able to stop.” Her therapist said, “Imagine there is a reservoir that can catch your tears…”
This helped my friend open up to a new possibility.
Here is a prayer to help you invite the Goddess to support your opening to a new possibility:
Possibilities Prayer
Goddess, open my eyes,
Guide me, let me see,
The horizons of my possibilities.
Open up my windows wide,
So, the opportunities cannot hide.
One and two and three and more,
My blessings pour out on the floor.
Give me strength, for options there be,
In my hands, so mote it be.
May these insights support your path.
Blessed Be,
Moonwater
