How Witches Wake Up Strong – Ep. 264

Alisha made so many rules about what other people should do that she doesn’t have any friends.
She was upset that Sarah didn’t call back.
Alisha thought that Mark was “too cheap” when he preferred to get burritos.
She thought that Marcia was arrogant, always talking about “big ideas.”
Alisha was blinded to Goddess’s Law.
“For My law is love unto all beings. Keep pure your highest ideals.”
— The Goddess speaking in The Charge of the Goddess (as written by Doreen Valiente)
I have three insights for you.
1. Don’t blind yourself to the lesson.
Goddess provides lessons so that you grow.
I have noticed that Goddess keeps bringing the lesson back to you over and over. The experience gets more and more intense — until you feel Goddess-Smacked.
The easy way to blind yourself is to hold onto old ideas. It’s being rigid. It’s not letting in new experiences and possibilities.
Alisha’s old ideas were that everyone must conform to her way of doing things.
On the other hand, I have a particular friend who just does not call back. So I call her when I can. We have a good time when we’re talking together.
2. To get the lesson, listen within.
Some lessons are about finding your own truth. If you devote too much time to worrying about others’ judgments, you can miss out on the beautiful experiences of life.
Listen within.
Are you being invited to let go of old rules?
Goddess invites you to express compassion.
Here’s a classic idea: “You can’t give what you don’t have.”
If you have no compassion for yourself, you likely cannot show compassion to others.
Pause.
Be kind to yourself.
Make space to be kind to others.
3. Don’t resist the Goddess’s Law
We return to Goddess’s Law:
“For My law is love unto all beings. Keep pure your highest ideals.”
— The Goddess speaking in The Charge of the Goddess (as written by Doreen Valiente)
All beings does not just mean people. We’re talking about animals and even plants. Cutting down rainforests is a bad idea, for example.
And what about “keep pure your highest ideals”?
Perhaps, we can have ideals of…
What ideals mean a lot to you?
May these insights support your path.
Blessed Be,
Moonwater

I wrote a short novel (novella) when I was a teen. My mother deleted it from the cartridge (old technology).
It still hurts, and it is decades later.
I’m proud of myself. I told her twice about my writing. I had the cartridge labelled. I had stood up and said what I needed to. But she still deleted my novella.
I had a vision to be a writer.
It was not until later I became a blogger (GoddessHasYourBack.com) and Podcast Creator.
Do you have a vision from long ago?
Did someone step on it?
I have three insights for you.
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” – Wayne Gretzky
You’ll never know how powerful and wonderful you can become if you say no to the things that the Gods place in your path.
The Gods put these opportunities in front of you for a reason. They want you to learn and grow.
Before you say, “No. I don’t have the time for that,” pause. Listen to your heart. Perhaps, postpone the decision until you have a meditation session (even just 5 minutes) to hear the God and Goddess.
Realize that this adventure of your life involves discovery. You can expand your horizons.
I have heard a number of individuals say, ”I don’t know what my purpose is.”
If that is true, your purpose then is to explore what your purpose is.
What does that involve?
Perhaps, you use a day planner (or app) and schedule 30 minutes a day to do Google searches and see YouTube videos. Maybe, each week, you go someplace to explore possibilities.
Some people say, “I don’t know what ‘excites’ me.” Okay. How about looking for something that sparks your interest?
What can you look into—that might spark your interest?
Many witches tend to only note their rituals and results in their Book of Shadows. Your B.O.S. is to support your life.
Then, you can note your rituals, experiences, Google searches, discoveries, disappointments, and triumphs. Make space to discover your vision within.
Consider that many people put in more effort into planning a vacation than they do in their work life.
Why? They feel a sense of urgency. Because they think, “I only get these few days away from my job. So, I better make them count.”
So, log your progress in your B.O.S.
You can do things like meditating on your goals. Use your divinatory tools. You can do Tarot readings on your interests and the directions you could take.
Your life and your vision within is more important than a simple vacation.
You’re on a path. Log your progress in your B.O.S.
What can you do today to support your vision within?
May these insights support your path.
Blessed Be,
Moonwater

How Witches Believe in Themselves and Duck the B.S. from Others – Ep 262

“I can’t keep up this pace,” my friend, Alison, said.
Work to pay the rent, responsibilities for elderly parents, her heartfelt work, and more had her squeezed.
Her phone kept chiming.
She needed something else to experience in her life.
You’ve probably heard of FOMO – fear of missing out. It’s why we’re glued to our smartphones.
A number of my friends are addicted to keeping up with the bad news.
I call it the Tyranny of FOMO. How about we step back? Give yourself some time with your phone turned off? Many of us feel that we must be on call. How about fifteen minutes away from the noise?
With fifteen minutes – would you soak in a ritual bath? Take a shower? Meditate. Assemble a jigsaw puzzle?
What if you said “no” to a party that you didn’t much care about, anyway?
Imagine that. More time for relaxing. You could do a simple candle lighting ritual. Take your time. How about that?!
“I don’t have enough time for studying the Craft this week,” my friend, Eric, said.
If you didn’t watch some semi-good TV show on a streaming service, you would have some more time.
We’re not looking for balance here. Many people believe “balance” is a myth.
We’re just looking at making a choice that nurtures you.
I have a friend who meditates 1 minute every day. Only 1 minute? As he says, “It’s better than zero.” And, he has conditioned himself to go quiet inside on command. That is useful.
How about 1 minute for the God and Goddess?
Do you have 3 minutes for Them? It’s really like getting the chance to be enveloped in a warm, loving blanket. Sounds worth it.
When you make time for the God, Goddess, and you … you experience the Joy of Missing Out (of the noise of life).
May these insights support your path.

Moonwater

How Witches Go from Inner Mess to Inner Peace – Ep. 260

“What relationship has elevated your life?” my friend, Angela, asked.
“The one with my mentor, my High Priestess,” I replied.
I have three insights for you.
If you find a mentor, be sure to truly listen to them. Follow their guidance.
When you listen, you show respect. And more importantly, you learn.
In your various relationships, you show that you care when you listen to the other person.
Listening is like water that nurtures relationships.
How does your mentor know that you have truly learned something? You get back to them about how you applied a lesson. You share what your results were.
Many of us are afraid to get back to a mentor when our results are not ideal. Talk with them anyway. Sometimes, the mentor says, “Oh. I should have also guided you to do ____.”
Mentors often share lessons, but few people take action upon their guidance. Be the exception.
Using the gifts that they have given shows that you really listened to them. This means so much to your mentor. It lets them know that what they are doing is working. They realize that their efforts are being fruitful.
These continuing conversations deepen and enliven your relationships.
You can ask the Gods for guidance in meditation or prayer. You can ask questions like:
May these insights support your path.

When I went to college, I dreamed of being a visual effects artist.
That version of me never happened.
I have enjoyed other adventures as a speaker in both the United States and New Zealand – as an author – as a blogger – and as one who expresses herself with the Podcast Goddess Has Your Back.
But I grieve.
I grieve the “me” that does not exist.
This grief is called, by Dr. Scott Gilers, “Ambiguous Grief.” He said, “It is like grieving the loss of an alternate universe version of yourself.”
Do you grieve some alternate version of yourself? Do you grieve losing your first love? Did you decide not to have children … but sometimes you think of what you might have known as a parent?
Did you give up on some artistic dream – to act, to sing, or to write?
I have three insights for you.
What is possible for you? The Gods see the real you. They know you can do more than your first guesses.
What story do you believe about your life?
Many of us believe that we are limited to our current job or current level of closeness in our family. Some witches believe they are limited in their knowledge of the Craft.
Where does all this limited thinking come from? Many authority figures like to squeeze us into a box. Why? It’s convenient for them. Parents, guardians, teachers, and employers all want to limit us to do what they want.
However, the secret is: the Gods know that we can be expansive. Think of the people who discover their art when they are older. For example, Grandma Moses started painting at 80 years old. She painted 1000 paintings and earned two honorary doctoral degrees. She passed away at 101 years old.
Yes—Grandma Moses was extraordinary. Still, the God and Goddess know that we have untapped potential.
What would you like to try?
We are free to choose and to live.
One of my favorite insects is the butterfly. It has so much meaning for me. Why? Because I transformed from a small shy, scared human being into a more capable one.
I have more growing to do. But I am continuing to grow and blossom with every step I take. I grow in my practice of the Craft—and in other areas of life.
I mentioned, “You may transform into the butterfly you did not prefer.” By this, I mean, that many of us became stronger because we endured tragedy. We did not want that. We became “the stronger butterfly.”
Have you endured tough times? Have you become stronger?
Are you the “stronger butterfly”?
If you choose to see the value of your struggles, you feel better—and more capable.
Here is a prayer that can support you.
Gracious Goddess,
Help me grow into the person I was meant to be.
Let me spread my wings and soar to new heights.
Ever growing, ever soaring.
So mote it be.
May these insights support your path.
Blessed Be,
Moonwater

“I always avoid criticism. It makes me feel like crap,” a friend, Angela, said.
I later thought about criticism and good ways to deal with it.
“There is only one way to avoid criticism: do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.” – Aristotle
I have three insights for you.
If someone criticizes something you did, you can view it as a “badge celebrating that you did take action.”
When someone criticizes you, you know you have made an impact. You have arrived! You are saying something.
Criticism rises among different Wiccans.
Some say that rituals must be performed in a certain way.
How do you do your own practice? Do you have certain opinions about how to do things?
There are many opinions about the Craft.
Have you noticed that some people can be truly negative about new ideas?
It’s important to notice the difference between negative criticism and real constructive criticism.
How can you tell the difference?
Ask yourself: Is this person trying to support me in what I am trying to accomplish? Or is their ego involved?
“In order for you to insult me, I would first have to value your opinion.” – Anonymous
Real is about doing something on an authentic level. When doing your Craft, do what speaks to you.
Yes, follow good safety rules like:
A ritual that is from the heart is more powerful. On the other hand, a ritual with many half-intentioned steps of complexity can be weak.
Real is visceral and heartfelt.
If it doesn’t feel right, it’s wrong.
Find your own way while you keep to the safety rules.
Here is a prayer you can use:
Gracious Goddess of the Moon,
Give me the strength to forge my own path.
Lead me, guide me to the betterment of myself and others.
Strengthen my Craft and help me learn and grow.
So mote it be.
May these insights support your path.

Do you feel stuck in life?
That was me. Years ago, in a loveless marriage. But I didn’t move. My depression symptoms had me convinced that nothing would be better. Just one day after another of repeating pain.
Month after month went by.
I didn’t push. I didn’t ask for better.
What could happen? That was the unknown.
Do you relate to being afraid to step into a new chapter of life?
What is waiting in the unknown?
Imagine … your destiny awaits.
Here are three insights:
Many people wait until finally the pain is so unbearable that there is no other choice. But…to…move.
My depression symptoms masked what possible benefits could await me in a new chapter of life. Free of the shackles of a loveless marriage.
Is there something good that’s possible if you step forward into a new chapter of life?
Did you ask the Gods for support? If not, this is a good time to do so. The God and Goddess can hold your hand as you boldly go into the unknown. The unknown is scary. The unknown has no form. It is uncertain … and possibly painful.
“If there is no struggle, there is no progress.” – Frederick Douglass
“There’s got to be something better than this” – many people who take a step forward
Here’s a prayer:
Lady of the Moon, Lord of the Forest,
Open my perception to the benefits to be enjoyed
When I step forward into the unknown.
It’s worth it.
Support me, guide me, protect me.
So mote it be.
May these insights support your path.
Blessed Be,
