“Do I tell him? Will this destroy our relationship before it’s begun?” This thought terrorized me. How did I get into this mess?
I just had a date with this new guy. This was years ago. He was doing a video project. It did not look good.
Do I tell him the truth? Would he want to hear what I perceived?
You’ve probably heard the phrase “Go big or go home.”
If I couldn’t tell him the truth, maybe we wouldn’t be able to have a healthy relationship.
So, did I tell him?
Yes. I was brief. “I don’t think you can make money with this project.” The quality was not good enough.
Over the next couple of days, he surprised me. He listened. He canceled the project.
It was a hard decision for him. He had to take responsibility for disappointing several people. No one wants to put time and effort into something that gets cancelled.
You may have heard that … many people throw money into something. But they do not quit when logic shows that the project is not working.
By the way, who is this guy? He’s my husband. We’ve been happily together for more than 25 years.
Oh, I’m so glad he canceled the project. That video project could have wasted a significant amount of time and money.
What do you do when you’re confronted with a big decision?
Do you give in to fear?
Go to the God and the Goddess.
Here is a prayer you can use:
Lord and Lady, Let me hear the truth through the noise of distraction. May my supportive intention be felt by this person. May we grow strong like the mighty oaks. So Mote It Be.
Moonwater reveals the hidden choice, so you take your life in a positive direction. She observes that a past experience may include a false impression. The God and Goddess stand by to support us. I felt ugly, fat, and alone. I couldn’t even imagine wielding any power. My brother continued to call me ugly and fat to my face and his friends. I wished my parents would corral their precious firstborn. My mother, in her anger and prejudice, ignored my pain.
Years later, I would suspect my mother had undiagnosed depression. She still won’t see a mental health professional.
Recently, a new thought came to me.
As teenager and a new witch, I was miserable. What?! Someday, I could effectively move natural energy?
Now, years later, an image arose in my mind.
Think of natural energy as droplets of water. A witch new to wielding magick may move these droplets of water one at a time. Through diligent practice of witchcraft, these droplets may unite into a crashing wave.
Then, I thought…
Where would I like the united droplets to flow in my life? Perhaps they could be a soothing, peaceful lake in my life.
How about you? Where would you like energy to flow in your life?
Here is a prayer you can use:
Lord and Lady, Water me gently. My power gathers. Soak me thoroughly, And my power grows. I wield my power in waves, To capsize sorrow’s boat, so I heal. So Mote It Be.
Remember: The God and Goddess have placed divinity within you. It is natural for a witch to move energy.
Today, I woke up after sleeping for over 10 hours. That is so unusual for me. No. I’m not suggesting that we work ourselves to exhaustion.
But this holiday season has seen me go, go, go. My get up and go, got up and went! I needed to replenish.
How about you? Do you work yourself into the ground? Do you just barrel on through? Force yourself? Get pissed off at people next to you?
Someone in my circle works with customers. He says, “People who come in here are either sick or late or BOTH.”
What happens? A number of the individuals are rude. Okay. Downright mean.
Wiccans know about the Three-Times Law. What you put out there returns to you threefold.
Impatient? Impatience slams you from other people.
Another way exists.
Take care of yourself. Honor your rhythms. I just saw a comedic film. I’m renewed.
And, here we have this blog post.
Here’s a prayer you can use.
May I honor my rhythms, May I honor my inner Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. May each flow from one to another smoothly, As I so will, So Mote It Be
P.S. Here is one more idea. In our life, one day can include all four seasons. You may wake up in Winter. Cold, stormy, and unpleasant. You might call a friend and then have moments of Spring. Honor your rhythms. May these insights support your path.
In one of the last paintings I finished, I have three furry pets pictured as sunning themselves on a house roof.
As I look at the painting today, I notice how I placed dark green trees behind the furry pets.
This makes the three pop out.
What if you and I approached each day like a work of art?
You focus on something. You make it bright. It stands out.
When creating a painting, you choose to make some portions of the painting dark in color so others stand out.
What would you like to stand out in your experience of today?
“Happiness is gratitude minus envy.” – Naval Ravikant
When you pause and declare, “I’m grateful for this [walk among trees, Diet Coke, you name it], you have shone the light of your focus on it.
You can let other parts of the day fade into the background.
What is most important to you?
Here’s a prayer you can use:
Lord and Lady, Let me see the lights in my life. Let me bring them forward. My darkest moments are only a portion of the tapestry of my life. May I flow from moment to moment. So Mote It Be
When I did my first spells, I was afraid of making a mistake. This fear kept me from doing magick because I was afraid of doing something wrong.
Over the years, I have learned certain things, including what I call the “hidden requirements of spellwork.”
1. Start small.
The simplest spell you can do is “thank you.” You can light a candle and some incense to say thank you to the God and Goddess for the blessings you currently experience.
2. Hold to humility.
I started as a solitary witch. I did not do more involved spells until I was in a coven with spiritual elders.
I find that holding to humility is helpful. Why? You make space to learn more.
3. Make space for a time duration.
Have you noticed that many worthwhile things in life take time? It takes time to practice. You may make a mistake, and that’s a time when your awareness is expanded.
Here’s a prayer you can use:
Lord and Lady, Help my studies grow. Let me learn and know. Help my knowledge fall in line. Give me hope at this time. So Mote It Be
Have you seen friends abandon you because of your Wiccan faith?
Three former friends come to mind. They’re gone. I miss them.
But then I realize this question: “What will I dwell upon?”
Imagine the Goddess was here to coach me. She might say, “Moonwater, let this go. It’s all right.”
Or…
The God might coach me with this comment: “Who cares? Let them go.”
Well, let’s look at that “Who cares?” part.
It reminds me: “Does caring about the people who chose to leave my life help me at all?”
We’re talking about how we experience our daily life.
If I think about the former friends whose prejudices led them to leave … it won’t change anything. Except it drains my energy. Thinking about them makes me feel bad.
But I could dwell upon a completely different idea.
When a friend chose to reject me due to Wicca, they closed a chapter of my life. A chapter that had them in it.
One thing is: A “fair weather friend” leaves … and my schedule opens for other people to come in.
Okay.
Here’s a prayer you can use:
Lord and Lady, Help me not dwell on the doors that shut in my life And help me heal from the loss of the friends who leave. May I dwell in your Divine Shining Light. So Mote It Be
May these insights support your path.
Blessed Be, Moonwater
