Why would a Wiccan want to be adept with sigils? I’ve learned that sigils are a powerful way of manifesting what you want. I especially appreciate that sigils are useful for many purposes.
Five Ways You Can Use Sigils
- Carve a Sigil on a Candle
When you carve a sigil on a candle, you’re amplifying the power of standard candle magick.
Simply create your sigil, and then carve the sigil on your candle before you dress it. Complete the process by charging your candle (you send energy through your hands to the candle).
- Inscribe a Sigil on Jewelry
Many people inscribe a sigil onto jewelry that they wear. You can rotate your sigils by choosing to wear different pieces of jewelry on particular days. For example, if you want to express confidence on the day that you make a presentation at work, you could wear your jewelry inscribed with your confidence sigil.
Some Wiccans wear a specific sigil-inscribed jewelry piece for taking an exam. Some individuals wear their “workout at the gym” sigil.
- Create a Talisman
Wiccans enjoy talismans in that you can place them in a pocket where others cannot see them. Inscribe your sigil on virgin vellum or parchment paper. Additionally, you can place your talisman in a safe spot in your home where no one will disturb your magickal item.
- Place the Sigil on Windows or Over Doors as Protection
Some Wiccans create a potion and use it to inscribe a sigil over a door or window. This form of sigil serves to guard your room or home. One can use lemon juice to inscribe a sigil—since lemon juice dries as invisible to the naked eye.
- Get a Tattoo
Some Wiccans like to use henna (a form of temporary “tattoo”). Others get a permanent tattoo to stand for lifelong goals or devotions.

Ms. SilverClaw has written a book that is really great for the beginner wanting to learn about Wiccan or wants to start practicing the art of Wicca. I found this book wonderful, easy to read, and extremely helpful and informative. It covers everything from what Wicca is, the history of Wicca and how Wicca became misassociated with evil, along with how Wicca can help/save people’s lives.
