“I feel trapped. All of this trouble with my elderly parents. I just want to reduce any suffering they might feel,” my friend, Sandra, said.
This started my thoughts about freedom as the opposed to being trapped.
“Asking questions is a means of becoming free.” – Gerald Benedict
I have three insights for you…
- Consider the personalities of the Gods, which may free you to express yourself.
Which Gods and Goddesses can help you express yourself?
Here are a few thoughts about some of the Gods:
- Apollo – the God of music, dance, poetry, truth, prophecy, healing, and more
- Brigid – the Goddess of wisdom, healing, poetry, protection, blacksmithing and more
- Bragi – the God of fluency of speech and skill with words
- Athena – the Goddess of arts and crafts (also the Inventor of the bit, bridle, wagon, and chariot) and more
You may find that you resonate with certain Gods and Goddesses. Creating relationships with Them can serve as a great way to start the creative process.
- Ask the Goddess for Guidance.
Asking the Goddess for guidance is a good idea if you are stuck and don’t know where to start.
You can pray, meditate, or use your favorite divinatory tool. The Goddess wants to help you. All you need to do is sit quietly and listen.
Here are questions to ask the Goddess:
- How can I let go and just do the creative work?
- What other facets can I explore?
- What other things may I find enjoyable?
Sometimes, an artist, or anyone creating something, may feel stuck but try to push through.
I’ve learned that it helps to rest. To pause. To connect with the Goddess. It helps to let go of the feelings of “this must get done now!”
Give your intuition time to work. Then your creative juices may flow.
The Goddess waits for your invitation for Her to enhance your creativity.
- Ask the God for strength and will.
The God will lend His strength and will to you. After the Goddess gives you the gift of Her Grace, you can move forward with your will to get things done. Doing a ritual for your project can strengthen your resolve.
Dedicating your art to the Gods can help you create sacred art. For example, you can Cast Circle around your workstation or art room and then do the creative work inside the Circle. Consider dedicating your work to the Gods.
In summary, here are questions we explored:
- Which Gods and Goddesses can help you express yourself?
- How can I let go and just do the creative work?
- What other facets can I explore?
- What other things may I find enjoyable?
May these insights support you on your path.
