Using the Tarot in Everyday Life

“What happens during a Tarot reading?” my friend, Sandra, asked.

“It’s a chance to get insights from the God and the Goddess,” I replied.

“Oh, I had not heard that!”

I have three insights for you…

  1. Ask the right questions.

What is a “right question”? Here are examples:

  • How do I know when…?
  • What should I look for when…?
  • What does it look like when…?

My spiritual elders note that it is ethically wrong to delve into other people’s thoughts and feelings. So, avoid questions like: a) “Does Nancy think I’m cute?” – b) “When will my boyfriend leave his wife?” – c) “When is the job mine?” – or d) “When will I sell my house?”

Some authors suggest that asking the Tarot to “predict” certain outcomes is not helpful. They note that the Universe keeps flowing, and people and beings are making new choices all the time. If you ask a question like “When will my house sell?” the answer you see may only be accurate for that moment in time.

Perhaps a better question to ask would be, “Please give me the signs for when my house is about to sell.”

  1. Where does all the guidance come from?

My impression is that when you do a Tarot reading, you are communicating with the Gods.

Several authors suggest that the Tarot is connected to intuition or the Universe. I feel that intuition and the Universe are forms of the God and Goddess.

Your Intuition is knowing that the Gods placed inside of you. Intuition helps guide us on our life path. And the Universe is The All. The All is everything and everyone. Several spiritual elders suggest that The All is manifested as the God and the Goddess.

  1. Ideas for Before and After the Tarot Reading

It is good to have a Tarot journal to write down details of your reading. For example:

Date of Reading:

Who the Reading was for:

Card Spread Used:

Question Asked:

Cards Pulled:

The Placement of Each Card:

Answer and Insight Given:

Your Results (after one month):

You can set up a sacred space before you do a Tarot reading. You could cast a Circle. However, you are not required to do so. Also, consider saying a prayer before you do your Tarot reading.

Immediately after the Tarot reading, you can say a prayer of gratitude.

After the reading, you can meditate. During that meditation session, you can ask the God and Goddess to add to your understanding of details that arose in the Tarot reading.

May these insights support you on your path.

Blessed Be,
Moonwater
