How Witches Relate to Goddess’s View of Your Essence

“Really? Sixteen years?” Lacy, an acquaintance, asked.

“Yes. My husband said, ‘You are a spirit dealing with depression symptoms.’ But for sixteen years, I kept saying that I was a depressed person,” I replied.

“Why does this make a difference?”

“It’s about my identity—my essence in the Goddess’s eyes,” I replied.

I have three insights for you.

Your body changes, but your essence continues.

Your essence is your spark of the Gods. Your body grows older. Your physical abilities change. If you were a champion swimmer, at some point, the body closes the chapter on your top level swimming experiences. However, you spirit does not have such limitations. Your spirit is you.

I learned that my spark from the Gods is separate from my depression symptoms. I was shown this by my sweetheart. Sometimes you can’t see something until someone points it out. Even so, it can be hard to see. It took me 16 years to let this realization in.

Your roles are not your identity.

Ask someone who they are, and they most likely will start with mother/father or sister/brother—or even their job title. It’s amazing that we limit ourselves in this way. We are so much more than a role or a label. We are the children of the Gods. We are empowered with the gifts They have given us. With study and devotion, we can bond closer with the Gods and each other.

The Gods know your divinity.

The God and Goddess put divinity in us when They created us. They took care when placing divinity within us.

This piece of divinity came from the larger whole of the God and Goddess.

Divinity is within you, although many of us seek our worth on the outside in someone’s approval.

Many times, it seems easy to picture yourself as a combination of pieces like sister/brother, mother/father, team member of a work group or something else.

Instead, flow with this chant:

Lord and Lady,
Let me feel the truth
That I am divine
I am one with You.
