“The pressure just doesn’t stop,” my friend, Kassie, said. “My job, my family…”
I listened intently as she expressed her feelings.
I was glad to provide her with real support.
Here are three insights.
- Devote effort to be kind to yourself.
Have you found times when the people you count on the most just don’t have the space for you? The answer is often to identify what you can do to be kind to yourself.
I like to listen to music or do a simple arts and crafts project.
If it is nice out, I go for a walk.
Here are some ways you can take care of yourself:
- Bake or cook something
- Go for a walk in nature
- Have a cup of coffee or tea
- Take a quick nap
- Enjoy a meditation session
- Talk with the God and Goddess about your stress
- Listen to music
- Read a spiritual text from your favorite author
These are just some ideas for how you can kind to yourself.
- Gather support from people who care about you.
Who cares about you? Really ask yourself this question. Some of us have family members who actually do not care much for us. I heard about a woman, Helen, who wished that her mother cared for her. But it just was not true. Fortunately, Helen had an aunt who did care about her.
So, I invite you to find your own islands of safety.
A family member or friend can’t support you if you do not ask. But have a few people not just one person. Avoid making your request a burden. If you always go to only one person, you can burn them out. So, have several friends that you can go to. For example, my sweetheart has multiple friends who comment on his writing. He asks for a brief ten-minute session, and in return, he does the same for their creative projects.
- Ask for the God’s and Goddess’s support.
The Gods have your back. They see all the problems in life as lessons for us.
At certain times in life, you might feel that your troubles are just too much. You might ask, “Why do the Gods let bad things happen to us?” If life is a classroom, the Gods want to support us in learning some lessons that may include pain.
A friend recently said, “If life is a classroom, can I have recess?”
It’s a good idea to create “Spiritual Recess” in your life. When I ask the God and Goddess for support, I light a candle in gratitude and thanks for Their help. This is one way to give and receive in the relationship.
This keeps the relationship healthy. And I love supporting my Gods. I do good works and offer those actions in the names of my God and Goddess.
May these ideas support your path.
Blessed Be,
