How Witches Handle a Time with a Partner in Crisis


Has your romantic partner said something awful to you recently?

Are you afraid that your partner is buckling under too much pressure at work and in life?

One time my husband went through some health issues. It was a crisis time.

I learned several things…

  1. Realize your partner is melting down next to you.

Do you feel like you did something wrong when your partner is angry? Unfortunately, my depression symptoms twist me into me feeling like I did something wrong. But this does not work. Just because he is upset doesn’t mean that it has anything to do with me. But my depression symptoms make it feel like the world is crashing down upon me.

At a time when my husband is upset and I get triggered, he says, “I’m melting down next to you.” Which is his shorthand for It’s not you.

This helps me a lot.

Remember, it may not be you at all when your partner is having a meltdown.

This protects you from extra, unnecessary pressure.

  1. Ask your partner, “What do you need?”

During the meltdown, you can ask your partner, “What do you need right now?” It could be a hug, or they may want you to listen to them.

This can be a big help to your partner in distress.

  1. Ask yourself, “What do I need?”

You will do well to ask yourself, “What do I need at this moment?”

Many times, I need space. Space to think and to be alone.

It is equally important to know what you need.

To take care of myself, I can say “How about we come back to this topic in three hours?” This gives me time to collect myself and talk to the Gods.

  1. Devote time with the Gods

In any dire situation, it is always good to take some time to talk with the Gods. Whether in prayer or meditation.

The Gods understand and can guide you on your path.

  1. Devote time with your support system.

It is also important to take time with your support system. It could be your High Priest/Priestess, friends, or family. Be sure to talk with someone who cares about you. Someone who really does care. Some family members just don’t have the ability to be truly present with you.

Instead, develop your own support system. Music could be part of your support system. Exercise and meditation can help.
