“That’s when the apartment flooded?” my friend, Yolanda, asked.
“Yes,” I replied, after sharing with her an incident in which a witch forgot to dismiss the Element of Water. This witch cast a Circle in the usual way. But she did not follow through and use the proper steps to dismiss all the Elements that she had summoned.
I have three insights for you.
- Operate from a printed script.
Many witches use a script to do their rituals. Casting Circle is no different.
I use a script so that I don’t forget any steps. A script helps you keep track of where you are in your ritual.
Airplane pilots use a checklist. Similarly, you can use a script, and then you can avoid being concerned with remembering each detail.
- Walk through the script before you perform it.
Before you start, walk through the ritual noted in your script.
As I have worked with coven-mates, we have done a walkthrough before doing a ritual. This helps everyone have clarity about their roles and required actions. Before you start, sit down with everyone. Go over the steps. Identify who is going to do what action and when they do it.
An extra benefit: When you walk through the ritual (using the script), you can double-check that you have all the steps.
- Be sure to dismiss the Elementals and other entities you summoned to your Circle.
As you progress with your walkthrough, be sure you have a section on dismissing any entities, elementals, or spirits you may have called to your Circle. You don’t want any nasty surprises after you take down the Circle.
May these insights support your path.
