How Witches Enhance Their Luck

“Destiny! I don’t buy it. That’s denying all the work that Alicia put into earning that high-ranking job,” my friend Stephanie said.

“What about Van Gogh? He wasn’t recognized during his lifetime,” I replied.

If a person, perhaps, an artist or entrepreneur, achieves something big, is it a matter of destiny? Or luck? Or grace?

“Luck is success or failure apparently brought about by chance rather than one’s own actions.”

“Destiny is the events that will necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future.”

I have three insights for you.

Release yourself from the shackles of an “unmerited favor.”

This is where Wicca steps away from a number of traditional spiritual paths.

In Wicca, we notice we are born with merited favor. How? We are born of the God and Goddess. That means we are born worthy.

We have earthly parents. But we also have the Gods as parents. They care about us so much.

This was hard for me to understand when I was a small child. I didn’t know what real love was until one day. I completed a session of reading my first book about Wicca. Then I meditated. I called on the Gods—and They manifested next to me!

I always remember this experience. This helped me feel, deep in my heart, that I have merit. I mean something. I am loved for who I am.

Perhaps, you want to meditate or pray. Call out to the Gods.

Keep your senses alert to a possible sign of divine support.

If you are still struggling with a belief that you do not deserve love or the Gods’ favor, pray and reach out to the Gods.

Elevate luck with human warmth.

The Gods love us and give us Their favor on many things.

The Wiccan Path includes showing your fellow humans warmth and kindness.

The author Tom Marcoux wrote: “The more you express kindness with people, the more they want you to succeed. The more they bring opportunities to you. This elevates your luck.”

When people feel good around you, they are more inclined to help you.

This means that you are more likely to get the break you really need. Perhaps, someone will connect you with a person who can open a whole new phase of your life.

In this way, we can make our luck with the help of others.

Empower a Talisman

Amulets and Talismans—what’s the difference? Amulets are found in objects like four-leafed clovers. Talismans are man-made objects that are charged. You can make a talisman out of anything that’s natural. Don’t use man-made substances (plastic or otherwise).

Charging Your Talisman

First, be sure to charge your talisman during the waxing moon.

Cast circle in the usual way.

Cense and Spurge the talisman. Dance to raise power while holding the talisman and place the energy into the talisman.

Now put the talisman on the pentagram of your altar and place your hands on top of both. Focus on the talisman and say this incantation:

Little talisman of mine,
Listen up, for it is time.
I empower you now, So, listen up!
For what I say must give me luck.
I call upon the powers of the Moon and Sun,
I call upon the powers of the Earth and Sky.
I call upon the four elements, Earth, Air, Fire, Water,
Give my talisman all your power.
I call upon the powers of the rivers and the seas,
Listen to my honest pleas.
May this talisman bring me ________ and luck,
Protect me from ________ and muck.
Lovely Lady of the Moon,
Give me this my greatest boon.
