How Witches Unhook Themselves from Comparison to Others

Are you comparing yourself to someone else now? Who is not comparing?!

But have you talked yourself out of trying something because you thought you couldn’t measure up?

We, witches, need to connect with some better and beyond fear and one’s ego.

I have three insights for you.

  1. Identify if this comparison is worth making.

My site is usually rated as #22 on https://blog.feedspot.com/witchcraft_blogs/.

At first, I felt good. Then I looked at the other blogs closer to #1. “Why can’t I do better like those blogs?” I thought.

Does this comparison matter?

Let me turn that around.

I have a unique voice. I offer value to my readers.

The comparison is not worth making.

Instead, I can concentrate on offering value to readers including you.

  1. Measure the meaning on the spiritual level.

“Never wrestle a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.” – an old phrase attributed to many possible authors

Have you noticed that many people are “upside down” or angry before they walk into your area/office/workplace?

If someone is irritable and rude toward you, what does that mean?

What if you feel justifiably upset about what that rude person said? Now, what does that mean?

We, witches, can choose our own meaning.

We can look at the spiritual level. You hold your own calm. Let that person move on. You avoid descending to their egocentric level.

You can say to yourself, “Goddess, give me strength and kindness here. Keep me strong.”

  1. Invite the Gods to remove distractions from your spiritual reality.

Distractions, including our own expectations, can put a barrier between us and experiencing our spiritual, best self.

Instead, focus on a prayer. Perhaps, something like this…

Great Lord and Gracious Lady,
May I honor my unique voice.
May I honor the gifts You have given me.
May I fulfill my positive potential and express myself using these gifts.
So Mote It Be

May these insights support your journey.

Blessed Be,
Moonwater

  1. You are so correct. I have a friend who started his own blog and constantly laments that he gets few eyeballs. I tell him that he’s making his voice heard and people will find him when THEY’RE ready. It doesn’t seem to matter.

I get a (very) small number of visitors but could not care less. My site was and is for myself. Sometimes I revisit old Posts and realize the journey I’ve taken these past 8 years. Like reading an old diary. AND I can clearly see that I’ve grown in terms of my writing skills and composition. That in itself is an accomplishment.

If others visit and enjoy what they’ve read, that’s icing on the cake!

    • M—
I think it is great to hear your comment: “Sometimes I revisit old Posts and realize the journey I’ve taken these past 8 years. Like reading an old diary.” I think I will consider doing that, too.
M—, it sounds good that you feel, “I’ve grown in terms of my writing skills and composition.” I have, too.
      Blessings,
