“I’m Not Broken” – How Goddess Believes In You

Imagine a moment when you find that the world feels different to you. Some people call this an Aha Moment.

Recently, I had an Aha Moment. Since I deal with depression symptoms, I have often felt “broken.”

Have you ever felt broken? Has someone you care about called you “broken”? If so, you know what I’m talking about.

Then the Aha Moment kicked in: You and I were made how we are for some kind of purpose. Goddess doesn’t make junk.

Here are three insights:

1. What gift has depression (or some other thing you struggle with) given you?

Just today, I said to a family member, “What depression has given me is compassion for others. I understand struggle. And when I see someone struggling, I can relate to them.”

I think the Gods give us struggles to help us learn and grow. Struggle is a teaching tool that the Gods use for us. Yes, we can feel real pain during our struggle. Sometimes, the lesson is to seek and receive some support. I’ve also learned that giving some support to someone can give me some relief—for a time. It’s like playing a musical instrument blesses the audience and the musician simultaneously.

2. Goddess does not make junk—so you were made the way you are on purpose.

I know it might be hard to see the value you have inside when you feel broken.

Pause for a moment. Realize that you are made to order. You may feel that you have flaws that are choking your life. The surprise can be that the Gods have given you some difficulty so you can learn and rise to a higher level. There is a reason. Usually a teaching one.

Realize that Goddess made you. Goddess Believes in You.

3. Imagine how your struggles may light the way for others to have some positive outcomes.

I have a phrase: Your fight may be someone’s light.

By this I mean, if you show other people that it is possible to resist and carry on, you’re giving them inspiration.

I have a family member who deals with chronic pain. I’m inspired by how he maintains—most of the time—a cheerful approach to life. His fight is someone’s light.

My thought is that your fight can serve as inspiration to give another person hope that they can endure and rise. You inspire them to carry on and learn their own lessons.

May this process bless your life.

Blessed Be,
Moonwater

As a Wiccan – When You’re Facing an Invisible Illness

flower

Are you dealing with an invisible illness?

If so, I’m with you. Why? Because every day I deal with asthma, dyslexia and clinical depression.

Here’s More Trouble: Beware of Those Who Shame People with Mental Illness in the Pagan Community

What do I mean by “shame people”? I’ve encountered people who told me that I do not need medication. Instead, they claim that “a certain herbal tea” will “Fix you right up.” No. That is a delusion. But what really bothered me is their self-righteous attitude that I was not “believing enough.” Now that’s what I call shaming!

I do meditate. And I take medication. I have medical doctors who help me.

I have depression and asthma—serious diseases. And it is B.S. to tell me to drink a tea or think or wish my asthma attack or depressive episode away. This is life or death!

I do magick rituals, and they help. Still, if someone says that I don’t need medication, they are deluded. Instead, we must be our own advocates as we deal with invisible illnesses.

Why do the God and Goddess let these things happen?

I believe that before this incarnation the God and Goddess helped us plan the lessons we wanted for this incarnation.

Learning lessons on this plane is about taking the direct route. Sometimes, the direct route involves trauma or mental illness. And we know this before we are incarnated.

The God and Goddess don’t want us to suffer. They want us to be happy.

They send help to us when we need it most. My husband—that is, boyfriend at the time—came into my life and encouraged me to get help in the form of therapy and medical assistance. I am so grateful to him for taking my hand and leading me to the help I desperately needed.

Why would we choose an incarnation with trauma?

I’ll share an idea: Do you really learn what touching a hot stovetop is by someone describing it to you? Or do you learn faster and understand more completely by experiencing the pain?

The same is true with the lessons of our life. We need to experience the situation to truly learn our lesson.

Then, there is the experience of real compassion. Recently, I went through a “bottom-time” (crying and feeling hopeless). My husband sat with me. He didn’t try to “cheer me up.” He rubbed my feet. I felt better the next day—Thank, Goddess!

Still, my husband knows that there is no “happy button” on me. Sometimes, we just need to sit with the pain. I deeply appreciate my husband’s real compassion and love.

I realize that we do not ask for pain today. Still, God and Goddess often help us have the experience of support when we’re suffering. Perhaps, you’ll want to do a candle ritual to remind yourself of God and Goddess’s presence in your life.

Blessed Be,
Moonwater

Goddess Is the Source of Your Certainty

“Why is it getting worse?” my friend, Stephanie, said.

“I know there’s a lot happening. Anything in particular?” I replied.

“More violence in this country!” Stephanie said. And, this began a significant conversation.

What if Goddess Serves as Your Source of Certainty?

Is it possible to be certain of anything, anymore? Some people complain, “Unbelievable. I could not even imagine that people in leadership positions would be so … disgusting.”

I’ve learned that there is value in seeing ourselves as “spiritual beings having a human experience.”

As many of you know, I believe in the Summerlands, a place of love and peace in between the times we incarnate. We return and incarnate into a new body, and the lessons begin. We use our bodies as a user-interface for our spiritual being to learn lessons on this physical plane.

I realize that it can be tough to see this spiritual level when we’re in the midst of suffering and confusion. It’s as if we’re wearing “human-tinted glasses.” I suggest that we pause and consider looking at our lives from Goddess’s perspective. Goddess knows.

A Source of Comfort

Sometimes, I return to The Charge of the Goddess for inspiration and comfort.

“Let my worship be within the heart that rejoiceth, for behold: all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals. And therefore, let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you.” – Doreen Valiente (speaking in the voice of the Goddess—from The Charge of the Goddess)

A couple of meanings rise up for me with the above quote.

Notice the phrase “all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals,” and see that the Goddess gives us the answer. We can derive comfort in honoring Her with our compassion, reverence, humility and more. Acts of kindness and beauty honor the Goddess and make us feel good.

A Prayer

Dear Goddess
Release me from my stale, limited beliefs
And give me compassion and mirth in heaps.
Acts of love and Acts of pleasure.
I honor You in this way forever.

May the ideas expressed here comfort you and invite you to listen to your heart. May compassion for others flourish in your heart.

Blessed Be,
Moonwater

A Wiccan Spell for Happiness

“So, what is it that you want?” I asked my friend, Samantha.

“I’d just like to be a bit happier. Is that asking too much?” she asked.

Later, her question started off a lot of conversations between my husband and me. I talked with some friends about happiness, too.

My thought is it would be terrific for Wiccans to have a spell to increase happiness.

But then I realized that what comprises happiness is different for every person. So, my husband and I came up with a list of Elements of Happiness that include contentment, joy, fulfillment and satisfaction.

Perhaps, you’re like me and find that you really don’t have days when your joyful moments comprise more than 50% of the day. There’s a reason in my case: I have clinical depression symptoms. This can be a problem in terms of “Can I ever be happy?”

Do you ever ask yourself, “Can I be happy?”

My husband tossed in an idea: “Maybe, some people have a definition of happiness that doesn’t allow them to ever be happy.”

We all need balance, and it might be helpful to look at all four elements and then fine tune your approach for yourself—to fit your needs. So, I looked up some definitions of these elements:

Elements of Happiness

Joy: the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires. [This is about moment-to-moment feelings.]

Fulfillment: the achievement of something desired, promised, or predicted.

Contentment: the act of feeling or showing satisfaction with one’s possessions, status, or situation. [I’ve thought about contentment as related to sitting still and feeling at peace.]

Satisfaction: the state of being pleased or content with what has been experienced or received.

Then I set out to create a general spell to help Wiccans create or enhance their happiness however they define it.

A Spell for Happiness

What you will need:

  • 1 orange candle
  • Candle holder
  • Rose oil
  • Dragon’s Blood incense
  • Ritual tools
  • Sea salt
  • Some of your favorite food and drink (for the Cakes and Wine Ceremony)
  • Lavender flowers (for the ritual bath)
  • Clean towel
  • Altar
  • Clean robe

Take a ritual bath:

On a full or waxing moon, bathe to wash all the physical dirt from your body. Then draw a new bath and put three tablespoons of sea salt into the water. Soak in the water and think of all the negative energy being absorbed by the salt water. Breathe in and out deeply. Relax… Take your time.

Use a clean towel to dry off. Put on a clean robe.

Next, go to your room and clear a space and place your small simple table (this will be your altar) in the center. Place the candle in the middle of the altar. Additionally, set up your small water bowl, sea salt bowl, and food and drink on either the side of the candle.

Cast circle in your usual manner.

Place the tip of your athame in the bowl of water and say:

I cleanse and consecrate thee, Water, that you are pure and clean.

Put the tip of your athame into the bowl of salt and say:

I cleanse and consecrate thee, Salt, that you are pure and clean.

Put three pinches of the blessed sea salt into the bowl of water and stir clockwise (using your index finger).

Asperge the candle with the holy water and say:

I cleanse and consecrate thee, Candle, that you are pure and clean.

Waft the candle with the incense smoke and say:

I charge you with air and fire.

Time to dress your candle: This means that you take the rose oil and rub it onto the candle from wick to the base of the candle. Carve the word “happiness” on the candle and place in the candle holder.

Put the candle into the candle holder, light it, and then say:

I now open my arms out wide
Perking up my internal pride
The blues that surround me go away
So peace and happiness are here to stay!
Happiness, peace, and love within
Reside deeply and ever herein
As I so will, So Mote It Be!

Do the Cakes and Wine Ceremony.

Close the Circle.

When you are ready, place the candle in a safe place and let the candle burn completely out. [Do NOT leave an untended candle. Stay safe.]

May this Spell enhance your life.

Blessed Be,
Moonwater

Wiccans and the Breath of Life of the Goddess

Have you felt alone or like you’ve hit bottom? Would you like to experience the Goddess’s Breath of Life?

When do we really need the God’s and Goddess’s love and light?

Every day? Yes. And in particular, when you’re feeling sick. I just had another coughing jag that almost split me in two. I keep reminding myself to let the Gods’ love and light in.

Their healing breath of life can soothe and heal even the most broken parts of us.

When we look at the word enthusiasm, we realize the Latin origin of the word includes “theos (God)” and the meaning “inspired by God.” Inspire means “breathe life into.”

Three Common Blockages That Can Keep You from Receiving Goddess’s Breath of Life

Here are Three Blockages you may experience:

  • Distraction from Your Essence
  • Feeling Unworthy
  • Loss of Hope

  • Distraction from Your Essence

When I think of the meaning of “Your Essence,” I think of Your True Self, which is what the God and Goddess meant for you to be. This about your True Path.

We all have a True Path in life. It consists of the lessons and goals we set up before we incarnated here on the physical plane.

If we’re distracted from Our True Self, we can feel certain forms of pain. These can manifest as feelings of being alone and unworthy. These feelings create blockages to our True Path.

Many Wiccans connect with their natural state of peace and comfort while meditating, chanting or doing a ritual or breathing process.

  • Feeling Unworthy

With this blog, I’ve shared part of my journey in dealing with symptoms of clinical depression. With these symptoms I can feel unworthy of love and kindness, even from the Gods!

So, how do we transform this feeling of unworthiness to happiness or even enthusiasm? Meditation is a great way to start on the road to the God and Goddess.

Many Wiccans find that focusing on the breath can be helpful, too. Here is an easy Breath Exercise to help remove blocks in your way to the Gods.

Breath Exercise

As you take in a long, slow breath, say silently,

“I breathe in Light and Goddess’s Love.”

As you breathe out slowly, say silently,

“I breathe out pain and distraction.”

  • Loss of Hope

During the recent political events in the USA, many people feel hopeless. Then, something good happened. Recently, there was a big turnout of African-American women voters in Alabama. They voted to make sure an alleged-pedophile candidate did NOT get elected. (I feel he should not have been allowed to run in the first place.) This resulted in the first Democratic senator to be elected to represent Alabama in 25 years.

This positive outcome reminded me that we have a choice to focus on the good moments of life. In this way, we can nurture hope within our heart.

So, if you feel a loss of hope, see if you can find something good to focus on. This helps open the door so that you can receive the Goddess’s Breath of Life.

Blessed Be,
Moonwater

The Flame Within You

Fire

“Ahhh. My throat’s on fire and my ears hurt,” my friend, Sharon, said when describing how sick she felt.

Her comment inspired me to think about how, at this time, many of us are having our internal flame diminished.

How can we stoke and tend the flame within?

Getting a cold, having allergies or just feeling shut away from the light of the Gods can really be a downer. This is when we need to feed the fire within.

Doing ritual can help us keep our internal flame lit.

“With the discovery of fire-making, ritual may have started. You did this and this, and up sprang the magickal flame, a spirit at your command.” – Gerald B. Gardner

Consider the Element Fire.  As humans learned to harness the benefits of fire, we discovered an essential part of our rituals. What rituals can we do to keep our flame roaring not just a weak glow?

Here are three things you can do to keep your flame bright and powerful:

  • Walk in the Wild

Recently, I’ve seen materials from doctors mentioning ecotherapy. Ecotherapy is defined as “exposure to nature and the outdoors as a form or component of psychotherapy.” (yourdictionary.com)

Witches have long known that nature is good for us. Now, doctors have finally started to catch on.

I love walking in nature. Why? Because plants, trees, and water around us take in the toxins and free a person from such toxins. Because I deal with symptoms of clinical depression, I walk in nature to become free of sadness, anxiety, and fear found in my body and soul. This does help me. Getting a thorough cleaning and being close to the God and Goddess always brings me joy.

The doctors may not yet know the true reasons why walking in nature is beneficial, but we, witches, know how it works.

For city dwellers, at least, talk a walk on a street decorated with living trees or walk in a public park.

  • Read Wiccan Books

Make reading a natural part of your day. Support your inner flame by reading in the direction your curiosity takes you.

At this dark time of the year, many Wiccans refrain from doing active magick.

What you can do is to immerse yourself in Wiccan education. (I believe in this and I created on online course Goddess Style Weight Loss – see the video)

How do you make reading a ritual? Pick a certain place and a certain time. You could light a candle, sit down with a nice cup of tea, and read … and smile.

  • Meditate and Enter a Good Place—In This Moment

Wiccans use meditation to connect with all that is good in this moment. Focusing on your breath can be part of your gratitude-ritual. You are grateful for every breath of life—the gift from God and Goddess.

Here is a pattern:

Breathe in.
I stoke the Flame of Life.

Breathe out.
I breathe out all stress and strife.

A Bonus Idea: Meditation can also kindle your positive anticipation for future good things. Think of what you would like to work on next year. Write down your thoughts on separate slips of paper and then place each item, one at a time, on your altar and meditate on how you want to accomplish the different goals.

You can light a candle and play some soft, relaxing music in the background.

In summary, I invite you to keep your internal flame bright and powerful.

Remember:

  • Walk in the Wild
  • Read Wiccan Books
  • Meditate and Enter a Good Place—In This Moment

Blessed Be,
Moonwater

Keep from Spiraling Down into a Low Mood – A Wiccan Solution

“Are you keeping up? Look what the administration is doing that’s hurting Mother Earth!” my friend, Jeff, said. “I can’t help it. With looking at the world and how I’m getting pushed around at work, my mood is lower than low. I’ve hit bottom.”

Perhaps, you can relate to Jeff’s concerns.

Have you ever woken up in the morning and just didn’t want to face the day and all its problems?

Maybe you’re emotionally exhausted. A number of my Wiccan friends say, “Every time I see any broadcast news, I feel drained.”

Are you feeling sad? Feeling sad is normal. A rough day or a rough patch of life can inspire sad feelings. We are not going to try to put a bow or happy face on feeling sad. The idea is: You can experience some sadness and then, at times, shift into another state of being.

Three Steps to Help You Climb Out of a Low Mood

  1. Listen to Music – Chant – Sing

A big depression symptom that can knock me down is: Feeling that I have no energy. Sure, I know that if I could get myself to a coffee shop and sit with a friend, we’d have a good time talking. But the problem is that I feel that I have no energy. I’m having trouble getting out of bed.

What can we do?

Listen to music. In three clicks or less, you’re listening to music. You could sing along.

Or you could do a bit of personal chanting or singing. You don’t have to have great talent to do this. Just light a candle and express yourself. It helps.

The point is that music can lessen the burdens in your heart.

While listening to your preferred music, you could dance! Moving your body helps get the blood flowing and can shake out a bad mood.

Consider taking a walk while chanting, humming, or singing.

  1. Meditate or Pray (Talk to the God and Goddess)

A version of an old phrase is: “When you meditate, you listen to Deity. When you pray, you talk to Deity.”

Many of us Wiccans choose to connect with the Goddess. We pick a God or Goddess with whom we resonate.

Certain types of meditation can also help you beat a bad mood. Especially if you’re subject to self-deprecating thoughts.

However, some people have hesitations about meditation. They find it tough to sit in silence with their thoughts. Is that you?

My mother has to have the T.V. on as soon as she gets up until bedtime. Why? Because she desperately does not want to have silence and hear her own thoughts. She is so unhappy that staying in her own thoughts troubles her greatly. She needs a pacifier of the T.V. to distract her from her thoughts.

A Solution If You’re Afraid of Disturbing Thoughts During Meditation

Focus on a phrase that uplifts your heart. I use this phrase: “I am the Gods’ Love; I am the Gods’ Light.” I use this phrase for a mantra.

  1. Call Appropriate Friends – Get Outside

I’ve heard friends who deal with depression-symptoms say, “I’m a real actor. I pretend that I’m okay when I feel horrible.” So, at times, it feels like we can’t call people because we’re afraid of “bringing them down, too.”

Think about which friend is someone you don’t have to pretend with. Talking with a good friend can reduce stress and, for females especially, can create oxytocin, known as the bonding hormone. This hormone helps you feel safe and bonded into your personal community.

Wiccans need our community to feel heard and to feel we have a common identity. Talking to people in our personal witch/pagan community can lift your mood.

Wiccans talking and listening to each other is vital because there are times when some of us may be targeted with disdain or even hate. Find someone who will support you.

I’ve noticed that it is good to realize that you can have different “levels” of friends. Some friends are stronger and closer. They can be good listeners to your difficulties. They can give you the support you need. And they are there when you need them.

Also, just getting out of your home into the sun may be just what you need. Especially during the dark half of the year. Get some fresh air, and it’s better with a friend than without.

** Depression Symptoms Can Be an Alert to Other States of Being – Clinical Depression and S.A.D.

Those of us who deal with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) find that this requires treatments like light therapy (phototherapy), psychotherapy and medications. Those who deal with SAD need to check with medical professionals.

The Mayo Clinic reports: “Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that’s related to changes in seasons — SAD begins and ends at about the same times every year. If you’re like most people with SAD, your symptoms start in the fall and continue into the winter months, sapping your energy and making you feel moody. Less often, SAD causes depression in the spring or early summer.”

There are other forms of depression, too. In these cases, you need to consult medical professionals for help.

About Clinical Depression

Every day, I deal with the symptoms of clinical depression. The Mayo Clinic reports:
“Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called major depressive disorder or clinical depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. You may have trouble doing normal day-to-day activities, and sometimes you may feel as if life isn’t worth living.”

A “Combination Approach” to Dealing with Symptoms of Clinical Depression

I deal with all of the above problems. I have been fighting for decades to keep myself alive and well.

I’ve seen it in the eyes of people who are free of symptoms. It’s as if they’re saying, “Oh, you’re feeling sad. Just buck up and carry on!” These people are uniformed about the reality of clinical depression. I can describe it as trying to climb a mountain and you only have one pint of blood in your body. You have no energy, no resources … and at times, no hope. Oh—and don’t forget the associated anxiety!

I have used a Combination Approach to survive and thrive. I was lucky that I was diagnosed early in my life. An effective combination of medication and doctor/ psychiatrist /therapy and the God and Goddess has helped significantly in my life.

With the Gods on my side helping me, I’m leading a better life.

*  *  *

In summary, I’ve shared three methods so you can shift from a low mood. The goal is not to attempt to avoid all low moods. That’s not possible. The idea is to, perhaps, shift sooner out of a low mood.

Additionally, I suggest that you consider using a calendar to schedule your meditation (perhaps, make it daily?). Also, call appropriate friends and create reoccurring times to get together. Maybe, you’ll set up a weekly girls/bros night out.

As Wiccans we do well to schedule time for meditation, prayer and ritual to connect with the God and Goddess. Remember, They want to support you. The God and Goddess are there waiting to share Their wisdom and comfort with you.

Blessed Be,
Moonwater

Stepping Out of the Darkness

MCU

Recently, I was called to give a speech.
Here is the text of that speech:

“She’s eight years old and she’s drowning, held underwater in a swimming pool.

Yesterday, she loved running on a hilltop in Redwood City. The grass feeling cool between her toes. Yesterday, she climbed a tree.

But today, her brother holds her down, underwater. She is drowning. And he is waiting. Waiting for her to stop moving.

What does this do to a little girl?

I can tell you. My brother finally stepped away.

But the tough times didn’t end there. My brother kept up his torture of me until I couldn’t take it anymore.

So at 8 years old, I stepped to the edge of my bunk bed. I wrapped some yarn around my neck again and again. I stepped off my bunk bed – And I hung there for a moment—until the yarn broke.

My story is about stepping OUT of the darkness.

Sure, I’ve experienced dark times, but I’ve also experienced other things.

I once turned to a friend and said, “How many depressed people does it take to change a light bulb? None. They just sit there in the dark.” [audience laughter]

I’m glad to be speaking with you today about stepping OUT of the darkness.

Along that line, I’m going to share with you the 3 Steps of Empowerment.

The First Step is Diagnosis. When I was 11, I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder – another term for this is clinical depression. Clinical Depression is not just feeling the blues. It isn’t just sometimes feeling sad. It doesn’t just go away like Seasonal Affect Disorder.

Clinical Depression is like having tinnitus. That’s the condition where you have constant ringing in your ears. Except this situation is a horrible feeling of pain, sadness, and hopelessness. It can get so bad that death seems like the only way out. A friend of mine killed himself. He had clinical depression.

So Diagnosis is the First Step.

The Second Step is: The person must say, “I want help.”

I’m using the word “say” – but the situation is really about taking action. The depressed person needs to take action.

You and I cannot help a depressed person if they don’t want help. If they won’t take their meds, and if they won’t show up for therapy – there’s not much we can do.

I know that I have family members who want to find a “Happy button” on me. Well—I don’t have a Happy button on me.

Can I borrow yours? [I address an extrovert in the audience. The audience laughs.]

As I mentioned: the Second Step is when the person says, “I want help.” The depressed person has to choose it.

I wanted help. So I worked with psychiatrists and therapists. And I take appropriate medication.

The Third Step is: Maintenance.

Sometimes, I think of maintenance of my well-being as a daily fight. I have certain “weapons” to use to hold my ground against clinical depression.

First, I have a therapy animal, a cat I named Magick. I called him Magick because he makes food disappear! [audience laughter]

I love him and petting him helps me to feel better. He helps me switch to happier thoughts. I feel he takes away some of the pain.

Second, I stay active. I go out with friends when possible. I enjoy laughing with friends. I also stay active by taking daily walks with my sweetheart.

Third, I have things that I do for myself when I’m alone. Knitting and writing are great ways to help me cope.

I have shared with you 3 Steps of Empowerment that mean a lot to me.
1) Diagnosis
2) The person must say “I want help.”
3) Maintenance

And finally about that eight-year-old girl who felt no one cared … She is still inside me, but now I am a full grown woman.
I am here.
I care.
I will protect her.”

People have told me that the above is a powerful speech.

As a Wiccan, I still feel, at times, that I must protect myself.

Do you feel the same?

How can you protect yourself from those who do not care or do not understand our Pagan path?

I’ve learned that I need to face reality. To this day, my parents still do not respect my Wiccan path. They never ask me questions nor hear me out.

Part of taking care of myself is to gather with like-minded people who love me.

May you find your tribe.

Blessed Be,

Moonwater

How Wicca Saved My Life – Confidence

Rose

Blooming against the odds.

Finding the gods was a lifesaver, literally. Before I had the gods in my life, I was a kid with huge self-esteem problems. I had made multiple suicide attempts.

When I was eight, I was so depressed about my life that I tied a string around my neck, intending to hang myself. But the gods were on my side even then. The string broke. The gods knew I had a purpose; I had work to do for them. But at the time when it happened, I thought, I’m so lame, I can’t even kill myself right! I couldn’t see it for the blessing that it was. I just fell into a deeper depression. There were other attempts, and other failures.

My childhood was filled with physical and mental torture perpetrated by my older brother –and my parents’ neglect.

Somehow I survived to my 16th year. One day, I walked into a Barnes and Noble bookstore in my hometown. That year, I heard a new word Wicca. I asked the sales clerk, “Do you have any books on Wicca?” Her eyes lit up and with great excitement she led me to a shelf and started pouring books into my arms.

That evening, alone in my room, I started to read Scott Cunningham’s book, The Solitary Practitioner. My heart filled up. I finally found my home.

Now I reveled in a new world. Soon I was meditating, and after some sessions, the Gods made contact with me.

The gods embraced me with pure love. My body filled up with their love for me. From my head it moved through my entire body, down to my fingers and toes. Happiness was so foreign to me; I had never felt this way before. But I shifted to a deep part of myself I hadn’t known and here I knew that I was one with the Gods. Forever.

The gods found me beautiful. They took pride in me.

I never knew anyone could have this much love for anyone, especially me! This epiphany was a brilliant light into my chasm of darkness and despair. Now I could start to see myself for what I really was worth.

With this knowledge, I found a new confidence in life. Once the gods opened me up and shone their loving light in me, I was transformed into love. Love for myself and for others.

The “harm none” of Wicca rang true for me. I didn’t want anyone to go through what I had endured. I wanted to treat everyone with respect, compassion and love. So I started on my path and became a Wiccan priestess.

It’s a beautiful path.

Blessed Be,

Moonwater SilverClaw
