How Witches Remove the Blocks to Doing Meditation Ep. 50

Recently, a friend, Sam, told me about how a mutual friend’s birthday—Mark’s birthday—popped in Sam’s gmail. It was a reminder issued by Google calendar.
The tough part is that Mark has been dead for over six years.
This reminded me of a passage Doreen Valiente wrote:
To think that we will wait another life
To drink the wine from the horns and leap the fire.
Farewell from this world, but not from the Circle.
That place that is between the worlds
Shall hold return in due time. Nothing is lost.
– Excerpt from Elegy for a Dead Witch by Doreen Valiente
The good news is that this reminded me of our True Self.
The True Self is the divinity that the Gods placed in you.
It’s that part of you that cannot be broken.
The True Self is that part of you that reincarnates over and over again.
The important point is that we need to connect with our True Self and get past the distractions of everyday life.
Here is a prayer:
Gods,
Remove blinders so my True Self I see
Let distractions like shackles fall from me.
Let shadows back away
Shine Your rays on my day.
So Mote It Be.
May this bless your Path.
Blessed Be,
Moonwater

How a Witch Stays Strong with Money Problems Ep. 49
Recently, I was studying The Charge of The Goddess, written by Doreen Valiente—in the voice of the Goddess.
“And thou who thinkest to seek for Me [the Goddess], know thy seeking and yearning shall avail thee not, unless thou know this mystery: that if that which thou seekest thou findest not within thee, thou wilt never find it without thee.” – Doreen Valiente writing in the voice of the Goddess
The above quote seized my attention. Why? Because the Gods are not separate from us. The God and Goddess are inside of us. Divinity is inside us.
So, if we’re feeling alone or afraid, we’re distracted from the essential truth that the Goddess wants us to know: She can be found within us. And Goddess Has Your Back.
I’ve found, many times, that when I’m meditating, I connect with the Goddess. At that moment, it’s a relief! It’s a connectedness.
One thing I’ve learned about meditation is: We need to practice. It’s like making a path in the jungle. The more you walk the path, the more you make it clear and unobstructed.
When you meditate often or blaze the trail often, it’s easier to connect with the Gods.
Witches know that the Real Secret is: Pursuing everything on the outside is not going to yield the peace you desire on the inside. So, go within … meditate.
May your path be unobstructed.
Blessed Be,
Moonwater

“Oh, I don’t want to turn into my mother,” my friend, Anna, said.
“Anything in particular?” I asked.
“She’s so bitter. I even think she’s bored,” Anna replied.
During our conversation, I found myself thinking about a central choice we can make: fall into bitterness or stay open to new possibilities in life.
Here are three helpful insights:
When I feel down and even feel a little bitter about life, I look to nature to reconnect with the Gods. When I look at a tree, I don’t just see a tree. I see a fellow being, traveling on this plane of existence.
It’s like a big neon sign saying that the Gods are here. They embrace me in feeling awe.
Think about it. Look at a leaf on a tree. It has a vascular system where nutrients flow into the tree. Each cell is working in harmony with the others, just like cells function in our own bodies. It is the blueprint of life; it is the blueprint of the Gods.
The tree is of the Gods. You and I are of the Gods.
Take a moment to recall your favorite song or tune. Perhaps, this music fills you with energy or it’s just so beautiful that it takes you to a fragile moment.
We notice that music can invoke feelings of wonder, joy, sorrow, awe and more. When I listen to my favorite artists, they create a whole palette of feelings to paint my soul with. Such tones inspire an orgasmic plethora of emotions. With music, you can flow with the ecstasy of the God and Goddess.
As an artist, I find that flow, is the Gods expressing joy through me. That sacred connection is the God and Goddess expressing Their life force through me.
Even if you do not call yourself an artist, you are creating every day. You create a flow of activities. You find some way to fit in people you care about while you fulfill the obligations you have. You create and participate in life.
You even create the situations that bring you some good feelings—perhaps, pulling together a good mix of friends for an enjoyable meal. Notice that when you make space for your intuitive flow, the Gods guide you with gentle nudges.
May these ideas open new pathways for you.
Blessed Be,
Moonwater

How Witches Open Their Welcome Door to Blessings Ep. 47

Looking shaken, my friend, Tracey, walked up to me.
“My prosperity spell went upside down. I even lost money,” she said.
I put my hand on her shoulder. “I hear you,” I began. This was the start of a valuable conversation about magick and avoiding the mistake of psyching yourself out.
Here are three insights:
You probably have had an experience when you were focused and in the moment. It can happen while playing cards or in a basketball game. People say, “I just kept winning over and over.”
That’s a great state of being to be in. That’s the opposite of being psyched out.
We can psyche ourselves out related to magick when we let the idea “I wonder if this will work?” to take over. Doubt kills magick. If you doubt yourself and your capabilities, this will affect the power of your ritual. When you doubt, you put up a wall between you and what you desire. You’re sabotaging your own efforts.
The solutions for this situation include—first, devote meditation sessions in which you imagine and experience your goal as having already come true. Second, work with an elder. Perhaps, start small, and you’ll develop some evidence that you are getting better with magick. An elder can lead you through exercises.
Watch out that people can fill you with doubt because doing effective magick is completely outside their understanding. They may fear the process you’re in. Some people even mock what they don’t understand. Additionally, doubters can block your magick with their negative energy.
When I looked up details about psyche out, I came across a story about a boxer who uses belittling taunts to psyche out his opponent. It bothers me to say: part of me, the Inner Critic, psyched me out several times.
At least now, I’m paying attention. When I have psyche out thoughts or doubt-filled thoughts, I pause and look for a positive thought to hold front and center. For example, when I had a big disaster with a hard drive (I must have brushed a trouble-making key), I shifted away from “I’m an idiot!” to “It was an accident. I’ll check cnet.com for recovery software.”
Similarly, you can choose your own positive thought to hold front and center.
May these insights help you along your journey.
Blessed Be,
Moonwater

How Witches Handle a Situation Where There Are No Good Alternatives Ep. 46 By Moonwater SilverClaw.

“Oh, dear Gods, I’m an idiot!” I said. Out loud. Why? Because I had tried to reformat a thumb drive, but I possibly brushed a key and … The computer reformatted the main hard drive!
Disaster. Years of data gone!
Instantly, I was absolutely furious with myself.
Later, after calming down and beginning a 26-hour ordeal of working to get some of my data back, I thought about how I’d like to change for the better. I’d like to stop beating myself up emotionally.
Have you thought about how you could do better if you could make a healthy change?
I went on a quest to learn about change.
These two quotes seized my attention:
“The greatest and most important problems of life are all fundamentally insoluble. They can never be solved but only outgrown.” – Carl Jung
“… let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honour and humility, mirth and reverence within you.” – Doreen Valiente writing in the voice of the Goddess—in The Charge of The Goddess
I had a couple of insights about changing for the better.
At a certain point, after the hard drive disaster happened, I shifted to a moment when I told myself, “It’s gone. All I can do is recover what I can.” From this moment, I experienced a bit of calm acceptance. Then, I started to methodically lookup on cnet.com the possible software program I could get to recover the data.
I prayed, “Dear Gods, help me find a way to recover the data. Stay with me through the process.” The Goddess talks about combinations like “honor and humility.” I’m reminded of how we can all make mistakes, and compassion is necessary.
I also learned something else. It’s good to develop a “Big Trouble Tool Kit.” Recently, I was reflecting on this situation, and I realized that I didn’t think to do a Candle Lighting Ritual. It would have been good for me to have something written down. It reminds me of “In case of fire, break glass.”
So, in case of big trouble, here is a Candle Lighting Ritual Prayer:
Dear Gods, I feel devastated.
Guide me on the path to calm acceptance.
Guide me to take appropriate actions
For a better outcome than I can see now.
Thank You.
So Mote It Be.
May this process support you.
Blessed Be,
Moonwater

Can you relate to this? At 8 years old, I was a little girl tormented by my brother (three years older), while my parents ignored the situation. No one was protecting me. What was my reaction? I hated myself. I hated that I was small, weak and the object of abuse. I was upset, and I had no where to send it. So, I turned the anger in on myself.
Have you experienced self-loathing?
In my late teens, I found the Craft. I realized that the Gods loved me. If I was worthy of Their Love, I could love myself, too.
A Profound Shift from Self-Loathing
Consider making a daily list of three things you’re grateful for. Many people find that they can shift from one perception to another—if they make the choice again and again.
You might write:
I am thankful for my sense of humor.
I am thankful for my family and friends.
I am grateful for listening to music.
A Ritual to Shift Out of Self-Loathing
What you will need:
Begin by casting your Circle.
Bless and consecrate the items you will be using.
Dress your candle (rub from tip to base of the candle, using the oil).
One by one take a pin and say out loud the blessing you are grateful for. Press the pin into the candle. (you can use the working candle’s flame to heat the pins, so they go in easier.
Put the candle in its holder on the tray.
Light the candle and say:
Pins, pins all around,
Pins, pins fall to the ground.
Thank you, Gods, for my good fortune.
Dear Gods release me from self-loathing.
Help me know my divine value.
Help me walk in gratitude on my path.
As I so will, So Mote It Be!
Do the Cakes and Wine Ceremony.
[Special note: Let the candle burn completely, and do not leave a burning candle unattended.]
May this ritual support you to feel better—at least for moments every day.
Blessed Be,
Moonwater
