A number of my Wiccan friends (and other friends with other spiritual paths) are stressing out now. Can you blame them?
Just today, one of my friends sent this information to me:
“Some of the bills that are up for a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives are:
- HR 861 Terminate the Environmental Protection Agency
- HR 610 Vouchers for Public Education
- HR 899 Terminate the Department of Education
- HR 370 Repeal Affordable Care Act
- HR 354 Defund Planned Parenthood
- HR 785 National Right to Work (this one ends unions)
- HR 83 Mobilizing Against Sanctuary Cities Bill
- HR 147 Criminalizing Abortion (“Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act”)
- HR 808 Sanctions against Iran”
I have Wiccan friends who are terrified about what will happen to them when they lose the healthcare provided the Affordable Care Act (which is stated to have provided roughly 20 million people with health insurance who did not have it before).
I am deeply concerned, and I participated in a rally (staged in front of Congresswoman Anna Eschoo’s office) to emphasize our request for continued healthcare coverage. I was even called up to speak briefly at the microphone.
That afternoon, for a brief time, I felt my worry quiet down. Why? I was participating. My concern is that, although we can participate in activism, we still live much of the time with intense pressure.
With the negative changes, many of us feel like our inner self is being squashed. What can we do? Sometimes, a good cry may help. Still, the God and Goddess are there for us. It’s time for us to reach out to Them.
Asking the Gods for Inner Peace
- You can meditate
A number of us can use meditation to go into a deep trance and meet the God and Goddess. Ask for Their guidance. You’ll often find comfort.
A number of Wiccans have asked God and Goddess to quell the fire of fear that resides inside.
Consider the practices of grounding and centering to relieve much anxiety you may have. (See my article on grounding.)
Grounding can help us get to a point where we’re calm about those things we cannot control. We’re not feeling good. Still, we’re okay. I’ve seen authors write about the difference between acceptance and approval. I certainly do NOT approve of those actions that hurt people. For a moment of peace, I can accept that, in this moment, I am okay.
- You can do this Inner Peace Ritual
What you will need:
- White candle
- Candle holder
- Gardenia Incense (for peace)
- Gardenia oil (you can use extra virgin olive oil if you can’t get gardenia oil)
- Regular ritual tools
- Cakes and wine
Cast Circle in the usual manner. Cleanse and consecrate the white candle. Then as you dress the candle with the gardenia oil, visualize how you want peace. See in your mind people respectfully talking to each other and agreeing. Place the candle in the its holder–in middle of your altar.
Light the candle and say three times:
Goddess
Help us see
Our graceful connection.
Bless us with your clarity
Turn hard hearts to charity.
Sit and continue your visualization as you watch the candle burn. Let the candle burn down until it has been fully consumed.
Do the Cakes and Wine Ceremony. Close the Circle.
You can repeat this ritual to support you and the world around you.
Blessed Be,
Moonwater

Goddess Reveals Your Enchanted Light: Peace, Prosperity, Possibility Along Your Wiccan Path
I don’t generally write reviews on books I’ve read…but this time i feel lead to. This book spoke volumes to me, as if the author knew exactly where I’m coming from and what I’m struggling with. It’s not often a book can make me cry, but this one did by making me see the many blocks I’ve put up in my life. I knew they were there, but I’ve gotten skilled at pretending they’re not. Thank you for helping me see I’m not some freak because of circumstances throughout my life that have caused the blocks, and that i need to stop hiding from or burying them and face them one step at a time. – Crystal Sparks

Ms. SilverClaw has written a book that is really great for the beginner wanting to learn about Wiccan or wants to start practicing the art of Wicca. I found this book wonderful, easy to read, and extremely helpful and informative. It covers everything from what Wicca is, the history of Wicca and how Wicca became misassociated with evil, along with how Wicca can help/save people’s lives. Ms. SilverClaw also discusses practicing Wicca either in a Coven or Solo, and all the things you need in order to have in order to perform your ceremony, and she explains what each item means. She explains how to create spells and gives examples to use, and explains the pitfalls of creating certain types of spells. Ms. SilverClaw has truly created a book that is a cast all net the seems to cover everything that I needed to know to begin practicing Wicca. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is searching for their first book on the topic and wants to start practicing the art of Wicca or is just curious about the topic. This is truly a Must Have book. – Tamra L. Shipman
