How Witches Handle Conflict Between People of Different Elements—Ep. 180

“I like the Element of Air. I like thinking. Isn’t the Element of Air also connected to ‘inspiration’?” my friend, Kathryn, asked.
“One of my spiritual elders mentioned that the Greeks considered the God Apollo to be connected to knowledge, poetry, and more. One meaning of ‘inspire’ is ‘to inhale,’” I replied.
Air is connected to intellect and thoughts.
Recently, I reflected on how we can open good pathways of thinking.
Here are three insights:
1. Notice if you have stuck points in your thinking.
Have you become stuck in a thinking pattern? Have you been ruminating about something?
Recently, a friend, Amy, was fretting about her job interviews. Her friend, Stefano, said, “The right opportunity is yours—on the spiritual level. It may look like the hiring manager has the power. Still, the right opportunity is yours.”
Stefano’s comment helped Amy break free of her fearful pattern of thinking.
Amy does not need to stay in fear of making a mistake in a job interview. Stefano assures her that the Gods want her to have the right job opportunity. Better than that, the right job opportunity is already for her.
The Gods want us to use our intellect wisely. Learning to get free of a rigid thinking pattern can help a lot.
2. Ask about a “Third Alternative.”
Many times, we can get stuck if we’re thinking in a “this or that” way. It’s called dualistic thinking.
It’s about…
Instead, ask yourself, “Is there a Third Alternative?” The element of Air can help you find that alternative.
Let’s continue with Amy’s situation. Stuck in fear, she might feel that one particular job is “perfect” for her. Now she has more fear that she might stumble in the job interview.
The Third Alternative is to rehearse with friends for job interviews for three possible jobs.
She chooses the Third Alternative to “hold lightly” her desire for any particular job.
The next step for Amy is to talk to the Gods and invite the wisdom of Air to be available to her.
3. Ask the God and Goddess to guide your thinking to the Third Alternative.
The day comes, and Amy meditates with the Element of Air. She asks the God and Goddess to guide her in her interview.
Amy goes to the interview with confidence that she will get the job she wants. She does great during the job interview.
But a week later, she learns that she didn’t get the job. Now, she feels devastated because she thought the Gods were on her side.
She asks the Goddess, “Where is the Third Alternative?”
In a meditation session, she receives the message, “Wait and hope.”
Soon after, Amy learns that the manager wants her for a different job in the same company. Amy feels elated.
She experiences the Third Alternative: A different position at the same company.
How might you slow down and connect with the Gods about a Third Alternative? Will you do a ritual or a meditation session?
May these insights support your path.

How Witches Focus on the Element of Earth to Manifest a Better Life—Ep. 179
“Why does transformation have to suck?” my friend, Barry, said.
“How’s that?” I asked.
“I just lost a friend. I have to move. And I’m getting the feeling that I’m going to have to change.”
“That sounds like a lot to handle,” I said.
This conversation got me thinking about how the Element of Fire is about transformation.
One of my spiritual elders said, “Transformation, represented by Fire, can warm you up, and it also burns you.”
“How?” I asked.
“The burning is often about grief and mourning. In a transformation, you must let go of ‘the past you’ and even what you hoped the future was going to be. You feel ‘burned’ because you’re forced to let go of what’s important to you.” he said.
Here are three insights:
The Gods guide us in many ways. Sometimes, the road feels painful to tread at first. Fire will burn away all that is no longer needed. What will be left? Something valuable in your new chapter of life.
Yes, the loss of parts of your previous life hurts. However, such loss opens a path for you. Will you take the new path? The Gods beckon you forward. It is your choice to step forth where They guide you.
As you walk the new path, you may not be able to take some of your cherished things with you. You must let go to continue forward. You might feel devastated. Or exhausted by all the loss and change.
For example, Susan moved to a smaller apartment. She had no way to hold onto all her possessions. She cried as she bid goodbye to many of her beloved possessions. Eventually, she felt better in her new apartment and new location. “It was just stuff,” she told me. “I’m doing better now.”
The Gods like to see you grow. When They set an uplifting path for you, They enjoy watching you fulfill your destiny.
The Element of Fire is connected to energy, passion, and assertiveness. Assertiveness is about asking for what you want, and it is not aggressiveness. See a real difference between standing for yourself versus stepping on someone else.
The Goddess sees all. She knows that you’ll need to step forward and act assertively for your new and better chapter of life.
The Goddess, as a mother, also knows what will support her children to grow. Imagine a mother watching her child taking her first tentative steps. The toddler falls many times. Still, the Goddess (mother) is elated when Her child finally stands and walks for the first time. The Goddess stands with you and cheers for your steps into your new and better chapter of life.
May these insights support your path.

How Witches Focus on the Water Element and Escape Guilt and Dread—Ep. 178
“It’s impossible. I can’t make the deadline to sort through 15 years of stuff and get my possessions out of my old apartment in time,” Arianna told me.
Our conversation brought up several thoughts.
Here are three insights.
It helps to ask the Gods for guidance as to whether a situation is truly impossible or just seems that way as a first impression.
Here is a prayer:
Lord and Lady,
I ask for Your guidance.
Give me Your sacred sight
to see the hidden truth in this situation.
Let the mists clear and the answer be revealed to my eyes.
So Mote It Be.
Here is a version of the setup for using a pendulum.
As a simple tool, the pendulum can help you with yes or no questions.
Draw a vertical line and horizontal line crossing each other. Be sure that each arm of this “cross” is equal in length. Write “yes” at both ends of the vertical line. Write “no” on both ends of the horizontal line.
Place the chain of the pendulum so it dangles from the middle finger of your dominant hand.
Now form your question to have a yes or no answer.
Concentrate on your question. For example, you can ask, “Is this really an impossible situation?”
Watch to see how the pendulum moves and reveals your answer.
In this conversation, we’ll start with the simple “one card spread.”
Start by shuffling your Tarot cards. Then do the “cut the cards” step.
Ask your question and place one card down. You’ll notice that the card is orientated upright or inverted.
An upright card will indicate a positive or yes response.
An inverted card will give you a negative or no response.
In time, you can become familiar with complicated spreads of Tarot cards.
Special Note: When you use a pendulum or Tarot deck, the answer you get is only for this one moment in time. It is possible that you’ll think a new thought or do a new action that will change the outcome.
May these insights support your path.

How Witches Separate Wanting Love from Needing Approval—Ep. 177
“No! I do not want to move,” Arianna, a friend, told me.
Later in the conversation, she said, “Maybe this is a time of transition instead of just suffering.”
That opened a door in my thoughts.
Here are three insights for you.
A move causes a lot of discomfort. Your body aches, and your heart aches over the loss of your current home. You even deal with fear about the place you’ll end up. Arianna said that she did not want to move. But what does her spirit want?
“We are happy when we are growing.” – William Butler Yeats.
Have you noticed that times of transition often include suffering? It’s clear that we do not want to be pushed out of our comfort zone.
After we endure a time of transition, opportunities for new experiences and even new friendships often arise.
This can be a blossoming of a new chapter of your life.
You can guide your thoughts with this idea: “I wonder what the new adventure may be.”
Do you recall a time when a change was dropped into your life, and you suffered? And did that change eventually open a new door for something good for you?
The Gods know what is best for you, that is, what you need in your life. At the time, it may not be what you prefer. You may not understand why you need a change in your life. Still, remember that you are in a relationship with the Gods. Why? Because They placed divinity within you.
A Prayer
Dear Lord and Lady
May I be open to the new opportunities
That change may bring
For You know what causes my heart to sing.
Let this sunrise make clouds flow away.
Let this change go my way
So Mote It Be.
May these insights support your path.
Blessed Be,
Moonwater

How Witches Can Prevent An Eruption of Violence–Ep. 176
“That really hurt,” Anna, a friend, said.
I listened, concerned for her.
“You know, Susan…” she said, mentioning someone we both knew.
“She dropped me as a friend,” Anna said, the pain and surprise in her voice.
Why did Susan drop Anna? Because of Susan’s prejudice and mistaken beliefs about Wiccans. But would Susan listen to Anna or me about the truth of the Wiccan faith? No.
If you’re new to Wicca or if you want to strengthen yourself as long-time Wiccan—here are three insights for you.
As sad as it is, many people still misunderstand Wicca. Certain individuals mistakenly think that Wiccans have something to do with the “devil referred to by Christians.” Wiccans whom I know do not believe in the devil.
Certain individuals have a prejudice against any spiritual path in which the spiritual person relates to more than one God.
Once people know you are a Wiccan, some may shun you.
I have lost several friends because of my spiritual path. This still hurts my heart.
Over the years, I have reached out to others in friendship and added to my circle.
It’s important to continue to expand your circle, especially as the years go by and some of our friends die or simply drift away.
Actively build your circle of friends. It’s essential.
I remember hearing someone say, “Oh, Sam. He’s a Sunday morning religious person.”
On the other hand, being a Wiccan witch is something we do 24-7. We eat, sleep, and walk our faith. Many of us meditate daily and do ritual multiple times a week. Many of us pray daily and light candles to express appreciation for the God and Goddess. We act in kind ways and focus on “An it harm none.”
Many of us were drawn to Wicca, particularly as solitary witches, because we can be independent and chart are own path.
However, several Wiccans prefer their specific Tradition. Each Tradition has as specific set of Gods and ways of doing things.
Some people will express that their Tradition is the “correct Tradition.”
My own journey does not hold to that idea. While my own journey has included training in the ways of the Gardnerian Tradition, I do not find other Traditions to be “less than.”
We can look on spirituality as a large mountain. Many paths flow up that mountain. We all walk different paths. Sometimes we walk alone. Other times, we travel with others. But in the end, all the paths lead to the same place on top of the mountain. To Spirit.
May these insights support your journey.
